I am member of a learning cohort led by Dpict, a facilitation firm in Easthampton, MA, through which I am continuing to grow from trainings, job opportunities, and participation in imaginative civic engagement. My personal areas of focus include aging, ageism, and the Age-Friendly movement, having spearheaded the Aging in Easthampton project with the Easthampton Council on Aging.
I have been teaching 3D and 2D art making techniques for several years and offer a series of beginner workshops in needle-felting, puppet making, and illustrated journaling suitable for adults, children, and intergenerational groups. My recent teaching experience has focused on older adults at senior centers.
Recent classes taught:
- Painting with Felt (creation of needle-felted 2D designs on fabric with wool roving)
- Needle-Felted Chickadees (featured in the Daily Hampshire Gazette, December 2018)
- Sketching Your Life (illustrated journaling)
- Hand-Sewn Pocket Dolls
- Performance and the Art Journal (introducing drawing prompts to connect improvisational training techniques and the reflective practice of keeping a visual art journal, as well as collaborative, large-format painting)
